Our Story

The story of Wellies, it’s on a ship, a meeting place, a bar, a hangout, a former Wardroom, and where Friends of Wellington call home.

The WELLINGTON is one of two surviving WWII British Royal Navy warships permanently moored on the Thames, and the last remaining Grimsby Class Sloop. She is credited with escorting 103 Atlantic convoys during WWII.

The WELLINGTON lies at Temple Stairs, central London, and has been an iconic and much-loved feature on the Thames riverscape since 1948.
